After breakfast head ‘up country’ and the city of Nuwara Eliya, visiting the Ramboda waterfalls and a tea factory along the way. Afternoon The old colonial outpost still referred to as ‘Little England’ Nuwara Eliya certainly lives up to its name. Perched 6200 feet above sea level, the climate too, adds to the illusion of one stepping into an old English town, where neat hedges, quaint cottages and beautiful old buildings stand as serene as they did well over a century ago – the magnificent Grand Hotel presiding over them all. There is, of course, an old golf course as well as horse racing events to complete the picture.

Bluefield Tea Factory offers a guided tour through the factory for its visitors. During the tour you will see how tea is dried, pressed and produced. You will get to see the various equipment and a guide will explain how they function. You will also visit a tea tasting chamber with different types of teas. There you will get to know the proper way of brewing tea and the various ways to identify the different types of tea.

Victoria Park : This is one of the country’s most attractive, and best-maintained, town parks. A stroll around its paths, past manicured lawns, is a pleasure. The park comes alive with flowers around March to May, and August and September. It’s also home to quite a number of hill-country bird species, including the Kashmir flycatcher, Indian pitta and grey tit.

Gergory Lake : Lake Gregory is one of the significant tourist attractions in Nuwara Eliya. It was built by the Governor William Gregory during 1872 – 1877 periods by utilizing the water from the Nanuoya which runs across the town. It is about 91.2 hectares in extent. It was said to be used for water sports and for re-recreational activities during the British rule.

After Breakfast transfer to Dambulla

Tucked in the Central Province of Sri Lanka, the humble town of Dambulla is a treasure trove of historical monuments that are definitely worth a visit.

After lunch, travel through the countryside to the Golden Temple of Dambulla, built by King Walagambahu in the 1st century BC. Considered to be one of the most impressive cave temples in the world, Dambulla offers 21,527 square feet (2,000 sq m) of vividly painted walls and ceilings. Try to spot the more than 150 sculptures of the Buddha that hide around every corner, and then witness the massive Buddha statue that is carved into the rock.

The Dambulla cave temple represents one of the oldest sites for Buddhist monasticism, with a history as a pilgrimage site for twenty-two centuries. The massive cave temple complex is unique in Southeast Asia because monks carved the caves out from rock.

After breakfast proceed to Sigiriya

Referred by locals as the Eighth Wonder of the World this ancient palace and fortress is located in the heart of the island between the towns of Dambulla and Habarane on a massive rocky plateau 370 meters above the sea level.

Sigiriya rock plateau, formed from magma of an extinct volcano, is 200 meters higher than the surrounding jungles.

Its view astonishes the visitors with the unique harmony between the nature and human imagination.

The fortress complex includes remnants of a ruined palace, surrounded by an extensive network of fortifications, vast gardens, ponds, canals, alleys and fountains.

The surrounding territories of Sigiriya were inhibited for several thousand years.

After breakfast , check-out from the hotel and proceed to Colombo . En route lunch .

Arrive Colombo . Visit Cinnamon Gardens . Cinnamon Gardens is Colombo’s most gentrified area. A century ago it was covered in cinnamon plantations. Today it contains elegant tree-lined streets with posh mansions, embassies, stylish cafes and shops, sports grounds and a cluster of museums and galleries.
